The wave is solid copper, which is naturally nickel-free. It is sealed with Renaissance Micro-Crystalline Wax, a conservator's wax that protects the surface and keeps the color bright far longer than untreated copper.

I hand-cut and shape each earring, then stamp the pattern by hand in my Iowa studio. Each pair has subtle variations that make it uniquely yours.

Is this real copper? Yes. The wave is solid copper, not copper-colored or plated. The French wire and leverback are solid silver. Only the clip-on finding is plated.

Will the copper darken? Raw copper darkens over time. These are sealed with Renaissance Micro-Crystalline Wax, which keeps the bright color far longer. Store them dry and wipe them with a soft cloth when needed.

Are the ear wires hypoallergenic? Yes, with every closure. The French wire and leverback are also nickel-free. If you need nickel-free, choose one of those two.

Do they spin or flip? They are balanced to hang straight, so the wave faces forward as you move.
