Layer 1 SOLD-OUT

Square Fuzzy Necklace

Regular price

I designed a tool that allows me to make jump rings where each side stays flat. I thought this would create more visually interesting looks, but I was unprepared for how cool it turned out! Each side of the wire now acts like a tiny mirror, reflecting it's environment. This was really difficult to photograph as it kept reflecting everything back at the camera! The square wire also creates a bolder, more modern look. I put a comparison picture below to show how different the two chains are.

And why do I call it fuzzy chain? In addition to spending most of my time making jewelry, I am also an avid knitter. A few winters ago, I found inspiration in the bouclé yarn I was using. I loved the texture, and thought it would make a great chain! So I played around with various possibilities until I developed Fuzzy Chain. I think this chain has a very playful feel, and it's become one of my favorites both to make and to wear.

How does the clasp work?

The secure spiral clasp that I have designed is easy to put on for yourself - see the video below!

This clasp has a few fun side effects with the necklaces. You can wear the necklace backwards, and hook it up short leaving the clasp to hang like a pendant. Also, since the chain necklaces and bracelets share the same clasp you can tinkertoy together any number of necklaces and bracelets to create your own designs! This is a great way to get more use out of pieces you might already own.

Materials (all alloys are nickel free!):

Silver: Argentium Sterling Silver
Mixed Metal (Silver/Gold): Yellow 14/20 Gold Fill wire and Argentium Sterling Silver
Tri: Rose and Yellow 14/20 Gold Fill and Argentium Sterling Silver wire
